I saw that the dotnetnuke.com site updated to 4.8.2 and they have blogs... How is that their blogs are still functioning?  I updated a client's site to 4.8.2 and the blog module is no longer functioning on the site.  Does anyone have any insights they can share regarding this problem?

Thanks...

Hi jabberjazz,

I use Blog v03.04.00 modules in my DNN 04.08.02 installation without any problems. You should give some more detalis: what error do you see? What's stated in the Event Log? What's the Blog module version? From which DNN version did you upgrade? These details are essential to find a solution to the issue.

Best Regards,
Dario Rossa

I've been having problems with the Blog Module (03.04.00) recently too. I had DNN 4.7.0, which was already having problems, and I upgraded to DNN 4.8.0. The problem is still there. However, I have another portal, clean install DNN 4.8.0 and the Blog Module works fine. Not sure what went wrong, but following is the error:

Error: Module is currently unavailable.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.Modules.ModuleSettingsPage.BindData() at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.Modules.ModuleSettingsPage.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

The error occurs only when I click on Settings for any of the modules added by the Blog Module. I can, however, create new Blog and set Module Options.

Hi Ed,

although I never faced this issue, it looks quite common all over DNN and in other modules too, and doesn't seem related to the Blog module in particular. Some solutions are known to work with it, so try one:

  1. Restart the application by Host Settings or by adding a blank space in the web.config file;
  2. Go to Page Settings > Advanced Settings > Other Settings and set Link Url Type to None;
  3. Set back the dafault skin;

I hope that at least one of these workarounds will solve the issue.

Best regards,
Dario Rossa

I bet you're missing some of the tables and or stored procedures for the Blog module. This can happen when the installation of the module has a problem.
