Hi all,

We recently deployed a DNN development site to a production URL. I'm trying to change the path to SiteMap.aspx to point to the live site.

Under Basic Settings > Site Marketing in the DNN administrator the input text box is enabled and I can select the URL, but I can't edit it!

I checked the web.config to see if this path needs to be modified there. No luck. I must be missing something obvious but I can't figure it out.

The site is live and we need to get the SEO happening on this ASAP.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Ken

you do not need to change the url for sitemap. The physical file sitemap.aspx exists in the root folder, and automatically creates a sitemap based on the data in the database - the UI in this case is badly chosen, it should not be showing a non-editable textbox it should be a lable. You can see your sitemap file by typing http://www.yourProductionURL.com/sitemap.aspx

Thanks for the clarification, Cathal.

However, I'm still unclear about the DNN UI under Site Marketing where it looks like we're submitting the development URL for sitemap.aspx  to Google.

How will Google know to register the live sitemap page for SEO?

Cheers,

Ken

Ken,

I created a blog entry discussing the two ways to get sitemap's indexed by search engines.
