Thanks for the response, and based on your input I will now modify my question to be...

In moving the server to the live environment we have had to change its IP address (as it is now in our DMZ)

Has anyone got a list of all of the database tables and their entries where the IP address or domain of the server occur? Or does anyone have a server/IP address migration script?

Many thanks in advance.

That fixed the redirect problem, but unfortunately when I changed the Alias to "localhost/dotnetnuke" it goes into an infinite loop.  I tried removing all the aliases, but obviously that didn't work (.Net error) and I tried pointing my IIS home to C:\dotnetnuke since my ISP said that virtual directories would cause the relative paths to be messed up, but still no luck.  It's stuck in an infinite loop, redirecting to itself.

The default install works fine, so I'm wondering if I missed a file when I downloaded the /Portal/ files.  I wonder if there other folders in the Dotnetnuke directory that I should be looking at?  I ran out of time last night, so there are still plenty of options for me to try tonight, I just thought I'd share to see if anyone has had a looping problem.

Thanks so much,
Chris

Hi there,

I am experiencing the same problem as Chris did. Please can you tell me where I can find this entry in the Database? Is that the SQL database or are you referring to a text file located somewhere? Apologies for my lack of knowledge on this matter. thank you.

The only time I see this behavior is when the old/unwanted alias is the first one listed in the database.  When DNN does the redirect it simply grabs the first alias.  Check your database and make sure you have the correct alias in the database and also verify the unwanted alias is not in the database.

portal alias needs to be added to the portalalias table, either by sql tool or in DotNetNuke, Host menu, item Portals.

I am trying to do the same thing to a DNN 5.1 instance I have running. (DNN 5.1, SQL2008) I create a new IIS instance, SQL instance, and copy the existing database into the new database. THen I created a new directory, and copy the existing directory into it. Then I change the portal alias to the new site name. When I browse to the copy site, DNN starts, but it goes right into the install mode. I step through the install script (test folder permissions ok, test DB access ok) but then it fails when running the install/upgrade script and says that it cannot find a stored procedure. I don't know why it's trying to install/upgrade through when I make a copy of the site. Any help is greatly appreciated!
