Hi Sebastian

I am experiencing the same problem with my portal. I have opened DNN to work pretty much like iGoogle where if you visit for the first time a portal is created automatically and whatever you tweak stays on your browser. It worked fine until I got to portal alias 193 and it started timing out. The problem is exactly the same as the other contributers of this thread. It creates the portal but doesn't complet creating the portal alias. When I go to the backend and manually put the alias everything works nicely. ASPNET and NETWORK SERVICES have full permissions. I also tried clearing the tables as you suggested above but no luck. Is there a limit on the number of portal aliases you can generate automatically with DNN. This problem is hindering my progess.

After I realised that perhaps there is no simple configuration to this problem, I decided to dig down into the code. I reaslised that the code times out at line 1108 {ie DataCache.ClearHostCache(True) } of PortalController.vb. I recreated the class and commented that line and my portal is up and running again. I missed out on some 300+ hits who couldn't see the content of my site because of this problem.

You can check my portal out here www.iflaker.com
