I am trying to install 4.08.04 on my machine.  Windows XP, latest service packs, and Visual Studio 2008. So far, the installation has frozen the machine (no keyboard, no mouse) three separate times. When it does run, it gets to installing the database and just stays there forever on the progress bar. Looking at the DB, it created the Version table and then just stopped doing anything productive.

What is going on?

Thanks.

I should add - I am using SQL Server 2005, not SQlexpress. But the problem happens no matter which one I use.

If you mouse/keyboard freezes this sound like a problem with your PC (software/hardware)... not dotnetnuke.

However if the install "never stops", I''ve generally found this to be a firewall issue. Zone alarm cookie control and ad blocking (for example) needs to be disabled completely if you wish to install/log into DNN on a localmachine.

Yeah, I understand what you are saying but it happened three times with DNN and has never happened at any other time.

Thanks. I will try that.
