Nice -- I'll watch for your assessment.  I've had no issues (yet) with Google indexing the default sitemap but Google loves to alter methods/criteria with little or no notice to the dev community.  I might have to finally get around to making that modified "page-priority-token" sitemap I'd mentioned on our DNN blog...

AHA!

My DNN-generated sitemap.aspx (with warnings) did not get indexed after 12 days, even though I resubmitted it.

My hand-edited sitemap.xml (with defined priorities) got indexed in under 24 hours.

I'll call that strong anecdotal evidence.  We need some confirmation of this, and a fix.

FYI my sitemap.xml file was created as follows:

1. Copy the XML output of sitemap.aspx

2. Paste into notepad

3. Edit default "priority" values

4. Save as XML file

In other words, I didn't do any additional "tweaking" to the output of sitemap.xml other than editing the priorities.

Just to get a more complete picture, could you try making a copy of your DNN-provided sitemap (same .aspx sitemap with a different filename) and submit that to see if Google indexes due to the new filename?

FYI: default priority has been fixed to 0.5 last week in code for upcoming DNN versions 4.9.1 / 5.0.0.
