Is there any way of showing the calendar in one page and just a small list of events on the side of the main page?

Yes, that's basically possible, but there are two bugs in the current module version 3.3.8 that may cause trouble in your use case (these bugs are fixed in the coming version 4.0.1):

  1. Add a second Events module instance on your home page.
  2. Configure it to use the first Events module as subcalendar: in the SubCalendars Settings of the module settings, check the "Include Other Site Event Modules?" checkbox, and select the other module from the selectbox below.
  3. Configure the module to display in list view: in the General Settings section, select "Default Module View" = "List". NOTE: You have to disable category select, otherwise you'll get an error message when you first visit the home page; see EVT-7231 in the DNN bug tracker.
  4. In the Event List Settings section, enter the number of events to be shown in the list. There is another option to limit the listed events to a configurable time span, but this option doesn't work correctly with recurring events; see EVT-7071.

Hope that helps!

For an example on how that can work look at:

http://www.twincitytc.org/

You'll see on the first page there are two lists both driven by multiple calendars that are on other pages:

Thanks for the instructions on setting up a sub-calendar to enable a separate list view from the entire calendar. I got the module to appear twice like I wanted, but just can't get the new module to show in list view. I changed the Default Module View to be 'list' and as 'only view', but still it looks exactly like the original calendar in month view. I do not have 'disable category select' checked off. And I have 'select number of events' set at 10 in the Event List settings. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks

Jennifer
