Won't it fail because of the machine keys?

Yup. Only if you do a complete re-install of DNN.

As Vincenc was saying, just copy the DNN directory from dev and paste it into the prod box. Moving it over doesn't require a DNN install from scratch.

Firstly don't precompile, it does not work at the moment (only applicable if you are compiling the source code version).

Upload and attach SQL database to Web Hosting Provider.

Before uploading file files, use web.config without dev settings (only applicable if you are compiling the source code version). More info on differences between web.config here:
http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/ForumsDotNetNuke/tabid/795/forumid/118/threadid/70679/scope/posts/Default.aspx

Changed web.config SQL connection strings to whatever webhosting providers provide. Before you transfer web.config rename it to something else.

Upload files. Rename web.config back to what it was. Start the site in IE.

Any help?

Cheers

Alex

p.s.

I didn't change the machine keys to the web hosting provider keys, maybe I should have? Wonder what the implications would be here? It seemed to have worked anyway.
