I have a big problem.  I set up a personal DNN portal hosted by GoDaddy at the beginning of the month.  I have literally spent weeks uploading and creating content and I have users that have registered to the site, commented, posts in the forum, etc...  Today I installed the digFLASH module, and created a page and added the module.  Suddenly the site stopped responding completely.  Now I simply get an "Internet Explorer cannot display the page" error message.  GoDaddy's support is working on it, but they're saying there is a problem with the portal, and it was caused by the digFLASH module, now they want me to uninstalled and reinstall the application.  I have to admit, I haven't been the best about backing up the site or the database, and it is VERY out of date.  Please, if somone can tell me how to either uninstall the module and remove all traces of it from the config, or repair the module, I would really appreciate it.  It would literally take me weeks to redo everything that has been done so far, and considering I haven't had very much luck with GoDaddy's hosting (this would be the SEVENTH time I've had to uninstall and reinstall) I can't go through that again!

I know I haven't given very much information about the back end, but I can't get any more information from GoDaddy.  I've asked them to restart IIS or the entire server, but I don't know what's going on and they haven't updated my ticket in almost 24 hours.  If there is some way to remove all the configs for the module and bring the portal back online, that would be great.

Thanks

Sorry, I should have mentioned, I am running DNN 4.8.

Time to get serious about a backup routine if you want to avoid reinstall number 8! It should only take a few minutes to back up the file sytem and db. If it is too hard to do on Godaddy then perhaps look for another host.

To stop the digiflash module loading, look inside the PA zip that you uploaded and see what the dll's are. Remove those (or it) from the bin folder of your portal. Make a change to your web config file (add a space somewhere) and save it to let it reload the site.

I have digiFlash installed without any problems, so I wouldn't be surprised if the issue was something else.

Rather than reloading DigFlash, try deleted any DigFlash dll files from the bin directory.  You could also delete the DigFlash directory from Desktop Modules.  That will prevent any code associated with DigFlash from running.  You site should then load, but with errors, but it should load.

If it doesn't load, that means that DigFlash wasn't the problem.

Hi Storm,

digFlash is running on hundreds of sites, and I have not seen a problem where it takes down the site.  If you think it's digFlash, then do as others suggested.  Delete the DigNuke.DNN.Modules.DigFlash.dll from your /bin folder and delete the /DesktopModules/DigFlash folder.  What went wrong the other 6 times you had to re-install?  Was it a similar problem?

Thanks,

Mike
