I created a new directory under /forums/0 named Media...

Then pointed the repository to save images in this directory...

Make sure you recurse/synchronize the fileSystem

Now anyone using the forum can point and click in the FCKeditor to include their own Repository images in a post

Just to be clear, the ability to implement this sort of behavior will become possible in 5.0 (at least based on my understanding), but it may not be until some subsequent release that the file manager is updated to allow this specific type of functionality.

I have used this module to accomplish what your asking for with great results and user feedback.

http://www.snowcovered.com/snowcovered2/Default.aspx?tabid=242&PackageID=10740

There are some settings that when you setup a user a 'file space' file folder is automatically created for that user.  I usually setup a page with this module only that user can see to manager their files.

Hope this helps,

jerry
