After a few hours were my personal website is not being accessed, it seems to take quite a while before I can get a response (the home page returned) when acccessing first thing in the morning. Presumably this is because the host's server is no longer caching my website in memory after the hours of not being hit?

Is there anything I can do easily to speed up access to my site? Can anyone recommend a set of performance enhancements in DNN 4 which will make a considerable difference to access times for what, for the most part is a view only type website?

Is there a list of recommendations available?

Thanks in advance for all your help here folks.

Get more users.  Really.  You want to avoid the cache expiring, so get enough users to hit it regularly so it doesn't expire.  I don't advocate keep-alive services, but that's another option.

Mark,

As mentioned you can utilize a KeepAlive service. What a keepalive service does is it goes to your site at a set interval (usually 15 minutes).  Going to the site will keep the site from unloading itself from a webserver (which is done by the web server to help performance).  DNN has a page you can use to do this it is located at the root of your DNN directory and is named appropriately enough, KeepAlive.aspx.

Stuart

I think the two previous posts kind of nailed it but you might also look into page blaster for dnn. I haven't used it but you might send them an email to see if its something that will help. Its a free module. Mike
