i have an small question, i am new to this dnn,in my intranet site, i am able to get the user name and password from the active directory, but the PROBLEM is when ever a new user from enters for the first time he is not able to login in the first attempt itself, the user needs to type in his username and password for the second time, then only he is able to get into the site (NOTE: here user refers to the person in the active directory).....
when he types his username and password and clicks enter the pages starts loading but he is still in the same login page and he has to type the same for the second time ......
once the user logs into the intranet site.... then the same user can login to the site in the first attempt itself from then on..
any help ..... waitting for an clear reply friends.....

NOTE:for the first time only the user is not able to login in, the page loads and still its in login page asking user name and password, but i noticed one thing, when the user logs for the first time his name is getting added into the user accounts section of  dotnetnuke intranet site.... but  when the user types the username and password for the second time he is able to access the site then on... if any one knows the answer pls send it to srn_1010@yahoo.co.in its highly important friends

i don know where to post and how to post... so kindly do the needfull

Is there any error message of any sort the first time they try to login? Have you checked the Event Viewer in DNN for any error messages? What version of DNN are you using and what version of the AD Provider?

thanks for ur quick response Mike,

i am using active directory version:2008, and FYI  there is no any error messages or warning, when the user from the active directory logs for the first time to the site , the page loads but still remains in the login page, but the username and password entered will be cleared, then the same user types the username and password , he will be loged in successfully.....

NOTE: when he tries to login for the first time, his username is added into the user accounts in the dotnetnuke....

waiting for reply...

Check out this link for assistance in setting up the Active Directory provider.  http://dnnblog.venexus.com/DotNetNuke+And+Active+Directory+Authentication.aspx

What I wanted to know was which version of the AD Provider you're using in DNN is (knowing which version of DNN you're using will help as well).

Scott's link is slightly dated (meant for DNN versions lower than 4.6.0). It's mostly correct but there have been changes on file locations. There is documentation for setting it up available on the project download page (http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Products/Development/Forge/ProviderAuthentication/Downloads/tabid/852/Default.aspx).
