Is there any way to restrict usernames so they don't contain any punctuation like apostrophe's and the such?  A bunch of my SQL stuff breaks if a user tries using it with apostrophe's in their username and I don't want to take the time to check usernames for punctuation and make special cases for them.  Any ideas?  I would have thought it would have prevented spaces and punctuation by default since they are usernames, that's why we have display name right?  Any help is greatly appreciated!

I don't see this as an option.  You could create your own Dotnetnuke Authentication provider that would restrict the Usernames from having punctuation.  It would be pretty simple to do since you would just need to validate the username against your criteria.
