I would like to add a couple of text entry fields to the Repository.  When the user uploads his/her file, I'd like them to add fields like Organization and a couple others.  I can add to the template, but I need to figure out what else to do to get them recognized and put into / out of the database.

Or is this too much to ask of the repository?

Thank you!

p.s.  Is there a way to count / limit the # of words in the summary / description?  I would guess I need to write some javascript to do this.

with the current version, you would have to make code changes to the database, sprocs, database layer and controller classes to add new fields.

with the next verison (4.0 still in development) you will be able to add fields easily by using the config functions.

So, for now, it's a code change. See the pinned post in this forum for info on how to make code changes and recompile the Repository module.

When I downloaded the repository, it said it is version 04.03.00.  So does that mean that the config option is available?

please ignore last post.  I see what is meant by version.

So it sounds as if I should wait to add my new fields.  What I would like to do instead is allow the user to input their name in the name field BUT I need to validate that it has a first / middle / last.  So I'm thinking of writing some javascript or a .net validate regular expression to confirm that the user entered all the required components.  Will that work?  Where would I place the code?

Thanks again.
