Wow! That is an impressive list of fixes... Looking forward to the next release. I'm using Forum 4.4.3 on DNN 4.9.0 and my notifications seem to be working. It sounds like it should not be working.

Forum level notifications work.  Its the thread level notifications that are broken. If for instance you try to subscribe to a specific thread. Try that and write back here. For instance when you posted here did you check off the notification box? If so you didnt get notified that I just posted this as you should have...

Ok. Thanks. I am definitely getting notifications at the forum level. I have not tried to use the thread level notification, but I'm sure it won't work as you all have described. Thanks for the clarification. Hopefully the new release rolls out soon and we can get this bug behind us.

I have decided to give up waiting for the new forum module and have migrated to Active forums.  This silence is deafening on this issue and I am done being ignored.  I will keep my eye on the project and hopefully if this release comes out and is all its cracked up to be may use it in future site.

Chris, please understand that lack of communication is the worst thing you can do. We would rather hear about the problems with meeting the targets you have been putting up than being ignored.

Will this release be a Christmas present in 2008? How about an update please?

joiseystud, I do understand the frustrations of users of the module. Over the course of the last year my two biggest battles have been free time and the perfectionist in me. It has been my personal goal to make sure that any major bug is worked out prior to releasing another module version. Unfortunately, these two personal struggles of mine do not do very well together (ie. no time to make things perfect). The next release, which is imminent, will be a very solid release. I am aware of one major bug now that I am working out over the course of this weekend and then I will fastrack this release through the release tracker.

I am not 100% sure this release will come out completely bug free but after the numerous amount of testing I think it is safe to say most users will not experience a problem using the module. The only place I see a chance for exceptions is in odd upgrade environments (but this should only affect 10% tops who have previously upgraded a version from below 4.4.3 - in which case the Lists pinned thread would fix the issue).

Before posting the full list of what to expect, I do want to add that after this 4.5 release drops we plan on re-writing the entire UI. I will 'branch' the source code so we can release a 'patch' if necessary. I also wanted to thank you for the appreciate too!

I whole heartedly agree with you and I think I am going to do the same for the dozen or so portals I run and any going forward.  I've tried very hard to support  DNN in all their efforts but paying a few hundred bucks to get a solid solution today is the better way to go.

I do agree, the most annoying thing is the total lack of communication and lack of news of what is going on.  This is not good for the reputation of the Forum group or the DNN group as a whole.  This lack of communication seems to make all of the DNN accomplishments worthless.

Best Regards, Dave VanderWekke
