maybe mr. Smith should read all posts in the thread...

Actually I did. And if you ask the moderator you will see that I quoted your previous post and thanked you for that important information.  That was done about an hour before Mr Hammon's funny post.

However, my thanks to you did not make it here... probably my fault though, because I created a new account named "givealex1913" and I guess the moderator didn't think it was funny.

Maybe this post will be let through so you can get my thanks fromk earlier.

(by the way, go try to create a new account on dotnetnuke.com.  when you are done filling in the blanks and hit submit you do get your account created but the dontnetnuke.com site gives a non-reditected ASP.Net raw error page.  Like I said, not related but maybe a QA person might want to give it a whirl)

Hi Mitch-

Thanks for your response on this (and for your contributions; to the projects, and your site). I'm sure that the communications process, with so many people with changing availability, demands, and priorities, must be a challenge to juggle. Everyone has day jobs - I'm sure those take precendence and for good reason. Without a bunch of people volunteering, I realize that none of this work gets done (and arriving at discussions like this never happens ;-). Something about a "good problem"...

Overall, the DNN community is awesome. And, hopefully this project gets back on track because it sounds as though the improvements to the Blog mod will be significant. I'm anxious to get my hands on it and put it to use!

Best regards,
- Jeff

Hi Sebastian-

Thanks for chiming in and for your help trying to move things forward. While I and I'm sure others sincerely appreciate you taking responsibility, there are many links in this chain. This doesn't fall only on your shoulders. It does sound like there are opportunities to make sure that testing is consistent across contributors.

In the end, I realize that you (and everyone else) are working hard to make sure that modules ship with as few issues as possible. It's good for users and I know good for the team... fewer support posts, bugs to deal with once it ships, etc..

Thanks for your concern and contributions - they're much appreciated. Hopefully the core team can work through the delay and get things back to you for testing soon.

Best regards,
- Jeff

Sebastian,

I appreciate your honesty here.  What is being done to move this process forward so we can get a release on the blog module?  The fact that the team is locked out of submitting should not have held up the repairs.  They have the source on their own computers, etc.  I assume this has only held up the submission of the now completed and pre-tested blog module. What is the timeline to getting the module submitted back into release tracker?  Can this be done by the end of this week?

Just a piece of advice to everyone involved on the Dev side of this project, openness is key on an "open" source project.  Every step of the way should be blogged so the community sees that there is a problem and that the process is not being held up by apathy. Look at Linux as a great model for this.  Everything is done out in the open.  You can not take the worst parts of open source and the worst parts of closed source and combine them to make something great.  Either make it closed source and start hitting hard targets or be fired, or do it open, free, and in front of the world.  Perhaps this situation could have been resolved faster and with less disdain had it been communicated out in the open.

Jeff,

I have to take off responsibility for the delay from the project team. After the issues mentioned before has been notified to the Blog team, the issues had been fixed quickly and the module resubmitted to the release process, you can follow the progress on this page. Unfortunately, another tester performed the functional tests (it was me) in a slightly different way then before and discpvered some more issues. When the Blog team lead has been informed about these issues, he decided to fix them before the release and the module was failed. Unfortunately, the poject team is currently blocked from making any changes by another core team member and unable to proceed, I feel real sorry for this and am trying to get this solved asap.

I've got informed, that the blockage has been solved and the team is now working on the issues, and I expect the package to be resubmitted to the tracker after a short beta test within the next days or week.

Cheers from Germany,
Sebastian Leupold
