 Hi,

i currently using Microsoft Enterprise Library to get database connection instead of using DotNetnuke Framework to establish DB connection. Is this bring any harm to DNN security part to my module ? What is the downside of not using Data Provider by DNN? Anyone can tell me?

thanks and have a nice day

Regards

realistically there very little downside, as dotnetnuke is using the Microsoft.ApplicationBlocks.Data.dll for data access under the covers - the data application block was the precursor to the MSEL. We never upgraded to the full enterprise library because the asp.net 2.0 version built too many interdependencies in (and also wasn't partial trust compliant for quite some time), and doesn't perform quite as well as the original data application block. The other main drawback on using MSEL is that you have to include the dll within the bin folder if it isn't installed in the GAC, and each additional dll takes up space in the app domain that could be used for other things.
