Hi,

I've been experimenting with MyGeneration and CodeSmith to generate the installation SQL Code for my custom modules.

In the last few days I've been immersed in CodeSmith and have come across a few challenges with Extended Properties.

I've been scripting a template to generate:

  • Drop Foreign Key Constraints
  • Drop Sprocs
  • Drop Tables
  • Create Tables
  • Create Primary Keys
  • Create Column Constraints
  • Create Indexes
  • Create Foreign Keys

So what are you using that fully scripts your table schemas?

Cheers,

Colin

When working on core project, I don't use anything. When working on any custom work or things done at AppTheory we use myGeneration in combination with EntitySpaces. We wrote our own set of templates to create code and all necessary dataprovider files. I have reviewed CodeSmith as well as LLBLGen and found that I prefer myGen over both of those options.

Whats wrong with using Microsoft SQL Management Studio? It generates pretty good SQL scripts, with a few critical adjustments these TSQL scripts can beused for deployment packages.

I personally build all of my scripts using SQL Management Studio, by myself.  I create them using the syntax dbo.[objectname].  This way when I migrate it into the DNN solution a single find/replace can add in the objectqualifier and databaseowner elements.
