Hi everybody

I'm using GoDaddy to host a couple of my DNN sites, and am wondering if I am doing anything wrong in my setup. The response times are shocking (gross understatement!!!). Often I have to click controls several times to get a response or refresh the browser. Is there a way to remedy this ... other than switch providers?

Depends on why they're slow.  If it's due to the page no longer being cached and having to recompile, then you need more users.

I would have thought that if I was using the page, and switching back and forth, as I would be to demonstrate it to someone, that the file would be cached, especially if I had just been on the page, and pressed a control to refresh the page. I am having this on several sites, not just the one, and having refresh/repaint times exceeding one minute isn't really acceptable. Is there a configuration setting I need to know about. Please can someone answer with a specific, rather than a put down, as I am not a DNN guru, rather a newbie. But I do know XML/ASP/HTML well, and have read the manual.

The only reason that I can think of can be due to overloaded server and application pool recycling. If you are in a shared application pool, please ensure that you are not sharing it with websites with bad coding and that it is not setup to recycle more frequently (an ideal time to recycle it will be once every 6-12 hours). If possible, you can also move to dedicated application pool as it will give you much better performance.

Thanks,

- Rick
