Last year at OpenForce North America, the founders of DotNetNuke Corp. laid out a vision for DotNetNuke Cambrian which is the codename for a SERIES of releases which encompasses a number of key features.  We never expected all of these features to be included in a single release, nor have we ever said anything to imply that they would be in 5.0.  What we have said is that we are commited to providing this functionality.  DotNetNuke 5.0 is the first release on the Cambrian roadmap.  It is not all of Cambrian.  DotNetNuke 5.0 will include major rearchitecting of key portions of the DotNetNuke framework.  We probably could have had DNN 5.0 out much sooner if we didn't care about breaking existing modules and skins.  Instead we have taken our time to get this right and make sure we could continue to honor our commitment to make upgrades as smooth as possible and try and avoid negating the investment community members have made in existing 3rd party extensions.

With 5.0 getting closer to release, we will be in a position to aggressively pursue development of the remainder of the Cambrian roadmap.  Expect to hear big announcements at OpenForce North America this year regarding this topic.  A lot has happened in the last year and we can't wait to share it with the community.  So instead of listening to rumors and distortions from others, come to the conference and hear first hand the exciting news.

Many thanks for your replies and hard work on the DNN project. I am gathering from this that since my timeline is to get this project going now, I should go with MyProfile, Dynamic Registration, etc., and look forward to examining the functionality that the new DNN releases will offer and how they will fit in or replace what we come up with in the mean time.

Thanks,

Will
