hi all,

I downloaded the source code from donnetnuke.com site in order to make customizations .i configured the file containing source code in iis and opened the source code in vs2005 and iam getting so many errors.Please any body prescribe any book or site which describes entire process of customization in any module of dnn.

  • Source package of DotNetNuke does contain source code for the framework only, not for packaged modules
  • to recompile source code of the framework, open the appropriate .sln file for your VS version and adopt to your location (2 places)
  • to modify any of the modules, please be aware, that there are 3 different types delivered:
    1. WSP Modules have no .dll file but usually a subfolder in /app_code folder. Code Changes are JIT compiled and effective immediately
    2. WAP Modules have .dll file and you need to install source version to be able to edit source and recompile, using VS2005 SP1 Std or VS 2008 (Std or SP1 Express)
    3. There are still a number of DNN3 modules bundled, requiring DNN3, VS2003 and ASP.Net 1.1 to compile

Thanks for the reply.ok suppose if i want to do customizations in a text/html module of dotnetnuke.Then what source code i should download and where to open it and do customizations.
