Hello, I am a fairly beginner asp.net programmer. I"ve been playing around with DNN sites for about a year. I'm wanting to learn how to create DNN modules. I've researched online and found a couple of sites, but some of them are confusing to me. Does anyone know of any basic sites or tutorials I could follow begin learning how to create DNN modules.

Thanks for any help or ideas.

Hi and welcome aboard.

The best place to get started is with Michael Washington's site.

He has dedicated his site and a large amount of time to helping the DNN beginner.

my 2 cents would be that DNN modules are just ASP.NET user controls. So start by creating a user control and changing the code behind to inherit from the portalmodulebase and just code like it is asp.net to start. You can leverage the DNN framework for the admin functions, membership etc, but just start coding!

Good luck, Jim

Right now I would say that Michael Washingtons site (http://dotnetnuke.adefwebserver.com) is your best resource available.  Also early next year my "Professional DotNetNuke 5 Module Programming" book will be out, which I hope will be a good resource, but it isn't a "now" item.

Thank you to you both Jim and Mitch. I will go over these sites and practice in VSD express at home and see what I come up with. Keep an I out for me, you may see again.

Thanks so much.
