Hi All,

I've got a DNN 3.1.1 portal that we recently upgrade to 4.9.0 in our dev environment, and then spent some time tweaking the dev copy.  We're not ready to post the dev copy to live, but in the intervening period, we've had some new posts to the forum

Is there a simple way to export the forum posts from DNN 3.1.1 and import them into DNN 4.9.0, or do we need to perform the upgrade again?

From my personal experience, I'd have to say there's no automated way to export the forum posts. Also, keep in mind that the posts are tracked by the user id, so should you have new users that aren't present in both databases, it would mean breaking the Foreign Key constraints on the tables.

The safest route is to just upgrade the forum module.

The secured way to upgrade a DNN 3.1.1 to 4.9.0 is in deveral steps, also a interested BLOG from Erik is on this site.  I sugest this update steps:

3.2.1 >> 3.3.0 >>3.3.7 >> 4.4.0 (don't forget change IIS to .NET 2.0 !) >> 4.6.0 >> Upgrade to Forum 4.4.3 > > DNN 4.8.0 >> DNN 4.9.0 .

After DNN 4.6.2 you must no longer manualy change the web.config file!

But if I can see the database with the tables and the spocs, I can manuelly repair it for the Forum.
