I am looking for a way to do this with default tools, or if someone has seen a purchasable module somewhere to direct me to that site.  I looked through snowcovered a bit- but not having much luck with how many modules they have, and searching through them.

I want registered users to be able to upload a photo (or lots of photos) to a website.  These photos are viewable by all users, and sortable by submission date, popularity (# of views) and rating (user voting).  The upload tool would need to resize the photo at least once, to save on bandwidth by displaying smaller images first, and allowing site visitors to click on the ones they want to see larger versions of.  As an added bonus, I wouldn't mind the abillity to make certain photos as featured, and have those show up as default on the site loading- but that part isn't nearly as important as the rest of the described tool.

Thanks for any recomendations.  I for one can't think of a good way to do this with the default tools- but maybe I'm missing one, or missing a feature of one.  And as I said, I'm not against spending some money to make this work also.

No ideas?

Maybe I didn't describe it well- I'm thinking submission style, like the old "hotornot.com" kind of website- but where people can upload as many pictures as they want.

There HAS to be something out there that would do this well.  I've played with the Repository, and it is just a little too overwhelming for the average passerby to use.  I want something VERY simple.

Are you having a particular problem with the Repository? are you saying it's too difficult to configure as the admin? or is it too difficult for the web site visitors to use? I would be happy to help you out as much as I can. I think the Repository can do what you want.

I am with Steve on this one, I think the repository module would be a good fit for this.  I strongly recommend configuring it in a manner that requires approval first, to avoid inappropriate content from getting posted.

I guess I don't like how you have to upload a file, and an image.  I only want JPGs to be submitted, and would love it if the user would only have to select it once.  Then perhaps a slightly differnet way of showing them on a page, maybe a few across a row, and a few rows, instead of the straight list.

Yes! Moderation is very important.  Here's what I had envisioned in the perfect world: A registered user can submit a picture, or lots of pictures. A moderator will allow them on the site if they are ok.  Registered users can also post comments, which would also moderated.  Anyone who visits the site can rate the content, even if they are not registered users.  If someone has posted enough quality stuff to make me think they aren't going to screw around- I can manually bump them up to the "submitter" role that I've created.  They can't moderate anyone elses stuff- but their own pictures and comments are now automaticly approved.
