Well, I don't know anything about the official release date of DNN 5...but I can address a few of the others.

Regarding the differences between WSP and WAP development, there are a number of resources out there.

1.) I have a number of articles on my blog, a compare/contrast about using WAP or WSP, a blog about how to debug WAP modules etc.
2.) The Professional DotNetNuke Module Programming book that comes out early next year covers WAP development fully.  (Sorry, shameless plug as I'm the author).
3.) Michael Washington has a few articles as well
4.) Download project templates from BiteTheBullet.co.uk

The biggest items are to be sure that you have the PROPER VS 2008 templates before you start!

Mitch, without taking too much of your time, please elaborate on what you mean by "PROPER VS 2008 templates". Also, I will lookout for your book! Your shameless plug worked :-) Thanks, Lindsay
