Just as a note, I've got a dozen or so DNN installations on various Godaddy hosted sites and they have all worked great -- until now.

A couple of days ago I setup a new 4.09 DNN installation on Godaddy via their application manager / cpanel control. Everything appeared to go fine until I went the site sub directory to complete the installation via the "wizard" that DNN now uses. I'm getting a generic "Server Error in '/site' Application" error. Because of security settings on the server, the actual error report can't be viewed remotely.

I worked with the tech support people and the only thing they could come up with is that the DNN installer is looking for file(s) in the wrong folder or that the path to the requirement config files is somehow managed. I uninstalled DNN via their cpanel and removed all of the DNN folders / files from the server space and did a new install (again through the Godaddy cpanel) and get the same results.

Their tech support indicate that the install routines they use are provided by DNN, and since my previous installations were done using an older build of DNN then there must be something in the DNN installation routine(s) causing the issue.

Thanks for any suggestions...

I couldn't seem to find anyway to edit my previous post, so I'll just reply to it.

I stated "DNN 4.09..." in my subject line, of course, it should have been DNN 4.9.

But, I did discover a little something in the DotNetNuke.install.config file that Godaddy writes to the install folder. It has "04.04.00" in the version TAG. Is that just a DNN mistake or is Godaddy using an older script to generate the DotNetNuke.install.config file? If that is the case, is there a chance that an older version of the DotNetNuke.install.config might causing the server error I'm getting trying to complete the DNN installation?

Is there a default DotNetNuke.install.config file for DNN 4.9 that I can download?

Thanks again.

Well, it appears the name of the current build vesion of DNN changes depending on where you read about it. I guess the current correct build title is 4.09.00.

Anyway, I downloaded the install version of DNN 4.09.00 and found the default DotNetNuke.install.config file and it states "04.04.00" in the newest version, so I guess it was just overlooked. I did upload this default version to the Godaddy server (in the Installer folder) and tried to the complete the install again and still no luck.

Still looking for advice. Thanks.

Problem solved -- well at least I'm up and running...

The IP address Godaddy was showing for this server looked a lot like some of the Linux Godaddy accounts I have. And the Windows accounts I have (for DNN installations) start with a totally different range of IP addresses. So, on the off chance something was strange about the server configuration, I just called Godaddy tech support and requested that they move the hosting to another server, which they did. Did a fresh DNN install via the Godaddy application cpanel and everything is running smoothly.

Now I can get back to web building :-)
