Hello there all!

I have installed dotnetnuke into a server and now i want to run it through the network. The problem is that whenever i am trying to connect to the page the explorer says that cannot find the page (the program runs perfectly localy though). I am using IIS 7.0 just for the info.

Can someone tell me what i have to do so i will be able to run dotnetnuke and from other computers in my network ?

Your help will be much appreciated! Thanks a lot in advance!

Regards

If it runs locally and not remotely, it's not related to DNN, ASP.NET or IIS.  Most likely it's networking or name resolution.  Check firewalls, make sure the name you're accessing DNN by resolves correctly.  Remember that you can't use "localhost" from another system.  Make sure you have a portal alias for however you access the server.

Well i am using a different program through the network and it run smoothly. For this i am trying to understand why dotnetnuke is not functioning from other computers. The firewall and all are checked. The way i am trying to connect from the other computers is: http://<ip of the dotnetnuke server/Dotnetnuke/default.aspx

Should i opened and the remote connection in the server's firewall?

It's very strange indeed....

Depending on the URL you used to install DNN, you may not have a portal alias set up for the IP address.

For Example - I normally set up my DNN installs (local ones) from http://localhost/[DNN] so this is what DNN will direct to when I try to connect from a seperate computer.

I then have to go to Portal Alias section of the portal settings and add an alias for http://My.IP.Goes.Here/[DNN] so that I can connect to the DNN installation remotely.

If you are getting any errors when you try to view DNN, please post that. There can be a lot of things causing problems on a network, so the more information you can give, the better faster the help will be. :)
