Some time ago I got tasked with running a DNN portal for my small group at work. Apparently it's been going well because now it's possibly going to become a corporate asset. That said, I need some advice on how to best set this up for stability, reliability, and finally speed.

What are the general thoughts on things? SQL Sever on the same server as the DNN Install, different servers? Can two web servers run one install of DNN (If I need to take server 1 down for maintenance, how do I make sure that the portal is still accessible and up to date?). If I run the portal and SQL on different machines, should I run 2 SQL machines also?

Where is RAM the most important, on the portal machine or the SQL machine?

I think I have the answer to some of these questions, but would like to see what the community feedback is.

Thanks,

Rob

Do some searching on DNN web farm support and be sure and read the documentation.  Real time replication and redundancy is possible with third party tools, any decent networking adminsitration group should have info.  RAM in SQL, as well as multi-core processors, before the web server.

Basically, forget it's DNN and work froma  mirrored server setup for any Windows server application.  Same hardware.
