in the upgrade package failed the folder PortalAliases. Copy this folder from the install file.

I knew that last comment of mine would be totally futile ....! If that works perhaps somebody could comment on the thread above I quoted :)...

Well, it looks for PortalAlias file not even exist inside install package.

I think, there is misspelling portalalias.ascx file (or portalaliases.ascx) where coders decided to rename it with 5.0 but forgot to rename all occurences at background code.

This issue prevents a user to edit portal aliases, unless he copies PortalAliases.ascx (and .ascx.vb) and renames it to PortalAlias.ascx.

If this issue is a bug or critical problem, community should be informed by a blog post.

I also have Admin > Extensions and Host > Module Definitions.

Is this duplication normal after an upgrade?

AFAIS this is an issue in the upgrade script, referencing wrong path. This shall be fixed in 5.0.1
