I've installed DNN 5 for what seems hundreds of times without install problems, each time I can access the host settings page.

> I have both installed 5.0.0 to a new development site

Are you sure this is a clean install, no third party modules? I'd be very suprised if you are experiencing these issues on a clean install (although check Gemini links above).

I assume this on your upgrade right? (and please state which version you are upgrading from). I assume that a third party module needs LINQ. Note LINQ is not support in DNN as such, However you can use it, search the blogs on with website for more or google LINQ and DotNETNuke....

and check:

You might try waiting for 5.0.1.

Thanks.

Oh and are you using another port other than port 80?

Thanks...

I am having the same issue on a clean install. No plugins, no third party modules. Host Settings just doesn't respond, though everything displays normally on that page. Everything else seems normal so far, though I haven't done much testing.

Some more info. When doing a fresh install, there was an invalid email address entered for host email. Looked like some kind of default address created by the system?  It was throwing a validation error which I didn't notice before. Once I changed that to a valid address, I was able to make changes in the host settings, click update and get the expected results.

BUT, I still get a General Exception error showing up in the Event Viewer every time the Host Settings page loads. Again, this is a brand new install with nothing in it that wasn't part of 5.0.0 distribution bundle.

I have the same issue on my DNN 5.0 install.  Do we need to add the LINQ settings to the web.config?
