Hello I am new to DNN and I'm trying to start developing on this platform.

I used the 5.0 starter kit to get the site up and running on VS2008 Web Devolper.

I am using my laptop has a development environment (VS2008 + ASP.NET Development Server) but I want to have the site on my local IIS Web server so that my fellow workers can see my ongoing work.

To achieve this scenario I simply created a virtual directory on IIS and pointed it to my development web site location.

After solving some problems regarding permissions and creating a new alias for the portal I still am not able to open my development DNN Web site. :(

After browsing to the IIS virtual directory I get the following message:

This site is currently Unavailable

Please check back later

It does not make any sense.

Can anyone please help me?

I assume there are permission constraints to point the virtual directory to an external directory. It should be easier to copy over the files (maybe using one ot the sync tools available) and use same database from boh sites.

Hugo,

I have seen this before.  Once you have gotten your issues with permissions resolved (as it seems you have by your message), you can look in the root of the DNN folder for a file named SiteUnavailable.aspx or something like that.  I don't remember the actual name.  It's funny, because I had this problem and simply deleted the file and whammo, it was working.

I hope this solves your problem.

I have done that with no  success.

I still get redirected to:
