I have just downloaded DNN 5. I noticed that the Search provided 2 options, Site Search & Web Search. I wanted to use a custom icon for Site search. After some investigation, I noticed the search.ascx.vb file (in Admin/Skins), which says that it uses the default dotnetnuke-icon.gif icon if one is not set explicitly.

I could not find any place to set the site search icon url. I noticed other skin objects also have such properties that can be customized. So, where exactly do I set values for these skin onject properties??

If anywhere, I would assume you would define it in your XML (assuming you're creating the skin in HTML) or just directly in the control tag in the .ascx file. From what I'm seeing at http://www.thinkofdesign.com/resources/dotnetnuke-skinning-reference/ it looks like there are 2 options for the [SEARCH] token: CssClass and Submit . For Submit the note is: HTML to activate the search lookup i.e "Search" or "Go" or <img src="mybutton.gif">.

(I'm not sure how accurate this is for DNN5 however)

Both Tokens you specified do NOT allow to customize the image for the Site Search. Looks like I need to replace the image in the images/search/ folder itself, or modify the Search Skin Object's code-behind to point to my custom image.
