Hi There

Obviously new to DNN.  I am trying to evaluate DNN to see if we can use it for some of our projects but I am just not able to figure it out.  I downloaded DNN 5 and got it installed.  I decided I'll try and add a banner.  Although the info I read say it is suppose to be so easy, you put the module on the page, choose your configuration options and there you go ....  Well, I can't even figure out the first part.

Just HOW do I put a module on the page (with DNN 5).  I read through the guided tour pages but the screen shots and descriptions there are diff. from what I see in my installation.

I figured out how to add vendors but how do I turn them into a rotating banner?

Any help or guidance will be appreciated.  Thanks

Banner is maybe not the ideal module for getting started, it is a challenge for some experienced DNN users as well.

I suggest to start with easier modules like Text/HTML and Links, which are installed by default or Documents, Announcements, or, to integrate existing Content, iFrame, XML/XSL and NewsFeed. If you are familiar with MS Access, you might find UserDefinedTable useful. Those modules need to be installed in Host :: Module Definitions.

To place a module on a page, you need to login as Administrator ("Admin") or Superuser ("Host"), and get a small line at the top of the page, starting with "mode". expand the Control center on the right and now you may add modules to the page (see the center section of the control panel).

Hello, I am not using 5 (yet) but in general to create a rotating banner in vendore create 2 or banners with th same assigned name / lets call them BANNERTEST these two or more banners work best if they are sized the same

Once you have done that go to the page you wish to show the banners on and select and add the banner module, then in settings add the banner name you wish to display and in the example enter BANNERTEST then in setting set to display 1 and adjust other settings as required and update

You banner will now rotate for each page refresh / visit.
