That seems like a very important feature to have in DotNetNuke. Has there been anyone that discussed this feature before? If you can share a single SMTP Server across multiple parent portals then you might be able to "hack" (define a different) SMTP Server for each parent portal.

How does DNN store the SMTP Server information under the host settings? (Database, Ascx.Resx file, etc???)

Would it be possible to Define Multiple SMTP Servers in Host Settings than be able to choose which SMTP Server you want to use for each parent portal?

Has been discussed before, currently no resources to impliment it (everything else has been of higher priority I'm afraid). Yes we realise it's an important feature to implement but nevertheless we all seem to get by. The workaround if you are stuck with having to use multiple SMTP servers is to employ a smart SMTP mail relay that sits inbetween DNN and your mail servers (which will probably cost you).

nb there are plans for overhauling email completely in DNN so there is greater control in just about everything, currently no timescales exist (too much to do).

I would like to setup each parent portal with the senders email address as admin for each of my domain names.

The emails sent out of each parent portal would be:

1) admin@mydomain1.com

2) admin@mydomain2.com

3) admin@mydomain3.com

It's dumb that a user registers on one domain and gets an email from the other domain.

How do you setup SMTP mail relay so each senders email address matches the domain?

The topic is probably outside the scope of DNN:
