I searched gemini a little bit, and didn't find an exact match. I did find something in the WebControls category but I can't seem to find it now. So I figured I'd post my findings and see if anyone else has run into this issue, but it looks like either nobody else has seen the issues, or nobody has tried to confirm them.

As for the deleted items similarity, I haven't tried with deleted tabs, but my specific issue (and the fix) had to do with a deleted module on a tab (tab still existed, module is in the trash). The search engines had the slave url (i.e.. &ctl=Viewer) in their database for that deleted module. I can't seem to find any checks against the IsDeleted flag when trying to inject a module's slave control (at least that's what I think is going on), they're present in the main module inject function but missing from the slaves function.
