I do a lot of work with newsfeeds, and when I get a feed to present, I just have to tweak the xsl to change the presentation, in Joomla, I have to tweak the code, and use PHP.  Seems silly, when xsl allows presentation changes to be made with much more simplicity.  But, in defense of those technologies, it could be a matter of experience, too, which makes it seem so.

This is a good example of why I think that the Microsoft asp.net "Stack" (of which DNN is a integral part) is ready for the future. Using Linq to XML you can transform the news-feed data faster and more accurately (because you are using less code). Using Silverlight for the final display is fast and easy.

I feel that DNN is "up to the task" when you need a framework to deliver these "solutions".

For example, yes it is possible to deliver a news-feed in Joomla, but after you have used a fancy one in Silverlight it's hard to go back. Ok Joomla can do Silverlight but making the required web services work is a lot of work. How about security? With DNN I could wire-up the whole thing in a fraction of the time.

I can't really speak toward how good DNN is a a pure Content Management System (CMS) but I can speak toward it's dominance as a Content Framework. Meaning, if you are a developer and you are trying to get a product out the door as fast as possible with the best features ect. DotNetNuke cannot be beat.

agree.. as long as you understand bug fix releases are at unknown intervals..   and you can't ask for a timeline or roadmap

"first, to ensure that DotNetNuke becomes the defacto standard for building web applications (web sites, intranets, extranets etc.) in the world - first on the Microsoft stack, and then elsewhere;

second, to ensure that we enrich all the participants in our ecosystem - we have done this so far from a product / technology perspective - we intend to take that to the business side of the house as well  "

After DNN Corps CEO statement above my expectations has raised a few 100% but I am not sure he has the whole picture.

Or maybe I am in the blue...
