I know its been posted here before but Im having the same problem and none of the other threads have a solution so here goes.

I setup a .netnuke site to be used in a web farm.  All the files are on a file server and I created a virtual directory pointing to the site.

The site seems to work fine except when I go to login using the url www.server.com/DNN/default.aspx?ctl=login

When using the url above I get they typical network BIOS command limit has been reached error just below the menus.

A critical error has occurred.
Failed to start monitoring changes to '\\files.server.com.au\Apps\WebSiteNuke\DesktopModules\AuthenticationServices\LiveID\App_LocalResources' because the network BIOS command limit has been reached. For more information on this error, please refer to Microsoft knowledge base article 810886. Hosting on a UNC share is not supported for the Windows XP Platform.

The website and application pool are running as a custom user that has access to the file server

I changed the lanmanserver and lanmanworkstation registory settings to 4096 but no change

In another forum post (http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Forums/tabid/795/forumid/108/threadid/196001/scope/posts/Default.aspx) Rick mentions the MS article linked to in the install doco but microsoft have moved that.

Brendon also mentions theres a hotfix but its for .net 2.0 pre sp1 so doesnt apply (http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Forums/tabid/795/forumid/108/threadid/226740/scope/posts/Default.aspx)

Is someone please help with this?

"Hosting on a UNC share is not supported for the Windows XP Platform." - you say you are using a server?

Does visual studio have anything to do with this?

Its hosted on a win 2003 server under IIS6.  Database server is also win 2003 with sql standard 2005.

The only part of the whole thing was the client (my pc) which is xp pro sp3 but even if I use the web server or any of the other 2003 servers arround here the error message is still the same as above.  I think the mention of xp is just part of a generic error message.

Well it's usually too many connections to a network share:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/810886

Also try reducing the path file length of the network share as much as you can:

e.g.

\\serv\App\Site\DesktopModules... etc

That's all I can help with myself, someone else maybe more experienced here.
