Okay, I'm pretty new to DNN, and am having the following issue.   I have a website that I've put together, and the intent is to have a seperate area for 'registered' users only, with content not visibile when not logged in.

This is no problem, except one hitch - I want to give a particular user the ability to 'authenticate' users who register.  The only way I can see to do that, is to give them complete Admin access, which I really don't want to do (as I dont want this person to mess with the balance of the site).

Is there any way around this limitation?  Ultimately, I'd love to be able to add the 'user account' module to another page (off the admin menu)....

Thanks,

Brad

Hi Brad,

Beginning with DotNetNuke version 5, an administrator may configure the user account module to allow any arbitrary role to manage users, this includes portal authorization (and any other activity permitted by the module, except for modifying host/administrator accounts).  You might give this a try in finding a solution to your problem.

Hope this helps!

Brandon

Here's one way (under DNN 4.x) to move ADMIN modules to other tabs where non-admins can get access:

Give ADMIN tabs access to Non-Admin DotNetNuke Users
   http://www.eguanasolutions.com/DNN_Blog/EntryID/16.aspx

Unfortunately the USERS module itself has some hard-coded logic regarding the ADMIN role so not all admin functions are available even after moving the module out of the ADMIN tabs area.

For DNN 4.x, the easy way out is to throw a small bit of cash at a ready-made user management solution like this $45 module from Work Control:

Regarding DNN 5.0:   I'd strongly suggest waiting for the release of DNN 5.01 before using DNN5 in a production environment.  There are quite a few notable 5.0 bugs that will be fixed in 5.01 as detailed here:
