I've had DNN installed on a SQL Express server for close to 5 months now (it's an intranet site) and have recently obtained a copy of SQL 2005 and have started the migration to the new server. In the process I was able to copy all the DNN files and mount the database to the SQL 2k5 server but when I connect to the local address it automatically redirects to the old server.

Example:

I type in: http://kbweb01 in the browser and it auto-redirects me to http://kbdc2/Home/tabid/36/Default.aspx
KBDC2 is the live intranet site.
KBWEB01 is where I want to move the files to.

What do I need to change to get the default URL for the page to point to KBWEB01? Do I need to change something in the DNN database before I demount and move it to the new box (setup a portal?) I am decomissioning KBDC2 so everything related to it, files and all, need to be moved and pointed at the new server.

Thanks for the help!

You need to add an entry in the PortalAlias table for the new URL.

Either before or after, but personally I find it easier to do before you move because you can do it through the web interface easily as a Super User account.

Thanks for the replies. I'll give it at try this afternoon and update accordingly.
