Ryno, I know of no "relationship". I do know there is a mutual respect among a LOT of members in this community with and from Will. The same goes for Rodney.

I'm sorry you may have had a bad experience with Will and Active Modules, unfortunately not everyone can be pleased all the time, and you appear to be one of those guys who can never be pleased anytime.

Perhaps the "no trolls" rule from the bottom of the forums here should be put into effect.

I'm actually using Smart Thinker for the first time right now... I've posted a number of issues I've detected (mostly minor)... I don't see any form of censorship... just helpfulness. I would disregard Rynos comments here, and by the way I'm not in love with Rodney yet.... we are taking our relationship on a slowly slowly basis however, so you never know anything could happen . Anyway please stick to talking about the product here.

I've yet to fully eval smart thinker as I've yet to get a site up with it, so I reserve my comments when I've done the job. So far so good... it takes a while to work things out (documentation needs improving but it is definately workable if you search the forums for tips), and you should expect some degree of complexity as this is a complex job if you expect to have the flexibility.

I've looked at Rodney's stuff and liked it a lot.   Love his Poker site which uses his modules.  His users seem to really use the product as expected.

However, I went with Active Social because I already am using Active Forums, and the level of integration Active Social has with the Forums is really promising(and improving with every release).    It's admittedly still a young product, but the updates have been frequent and contain a lot of enhancements....  many of the enhancements are due to feedback from his users....  so I can't currently complain about anything and am happy with my decision.   I've already started to see an increase in site traffic, and once Will plows through his Active Social roadmap, I really think I'll start seeing some great traffic.   Lastly, I'll mention that the discussions going on with how to integrate Active Social usefulness with 3rd party modules is really exciting and "next level" type stuff....

Just realize that Will spends a great deal of time making sure only approved feedback/forum posts are posted (which is also done here, as well).  If I were to post evidence of how poor Will's company is my posts would be deleted from here within minutes.  There is a relationship between Will and DNN that does NOT benefit the customer.

Just wanted to quickly note that this is definately not the case for the dotnetnuke.com forums. I moderate a substantial number of the posts in the moderation queue and the forums, and we only apply the documented rules (posted below). You are free to post your findings on anyone in the dotnetnuke ecosystem (seach and you'll find plenty of posts about hosters, module dev's or people we partner with such as aspdotnetstorefront that are very critical), if you've had posts deleted in the past I would suggest it's likely that your post failed the flaming/trolling rule ie.. try to make you posts factual, and not personal and try not to use unnecessarily rude language. The other main reason I remove posts is when a user appears to have a personal vendetta against a product/company -whilst you're welcome to discuss what you thought of something, popping up on multiple threads with the same posts is not allowed. Please note, that much of this is a legal requirement -you're using our infrastructure (the dotnetnuke.com forums) so we're responsible for policy them.

Note: At the moment, as notifications are not reliable, I rarely even delete a post, I simply remove the content and add a moderator note to explain the reason why.
