Anyone knows the difference between Active Social and Smart Thinker in terms of functionality and ease of set up and ease of use for the purpose of creating a social network inside DNN?

I have used the Smart-Thinker modules in a live site.  I use ActiveForums in several sites, and I've "played" with an early version of ActiveSocial on a test site.

I think that both are good products, and I'd encourage you to look at both, compare features, and see if you can test each.

There is also a suite of social networking tools from Venexus, but I don't have any experience with them.

Hi Salama,

You may want to post over on our general discussion forum for Active Social.  Very few of our customers post over here.  Some of them are currently migrating from other social networking solutions to Active Social.  We have some customers that are quite familiar with the other options available and will probably be glad to share their experiences.

Thanks,

I'd go with Active Social, but I may be biased because I think Will's a nice guy.

Aw... and I'm not Chris? ;)

It's probably best to try both products and determine which meets your requirements best. If cost is an issue then ST may be more attractive as well.

Bear in mind there is no reason why you can't use both products (I plan on using the best bits of AS with some ST integration views - just waiting for my AS License and will start investigating the options.)
