Hi,

i am unable to upgrade my current DNN version to edition 04.09.02. I have tried all possible steps but it failed. This is the error i received:

Runtime Error

Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
    <system.web>
        <customErrors mode="Off"/>
    </system.web>
</configuration>

Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
    <system.web>
        <customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="mycustompage.htm"/>
    </system.web>
</configuration>

 Please assist.

Unfortunately, this error message doesn't really tell us anything.  My first guess would be that you need to reset file permissions so that the ASP.NET worker process can access/modify the website's file system.

Can you try altering your web.config as that error message suggests, so that we can see the actual error message?  Find the customErrors node in your web.config file, and change the module to "Off."  Then hit the page again, and it should show the actual error.

Hope that helps,

From that error message it appears that the database upgrade scripts didn't run correctly during the upgrade.  When you upgraded, do you remember if you saw a confirmation that the upgrade script completed successfully?

If you have a backup of the site and database, I would recommend restoring that backup and trying the upgrade again.

Hope that helps,
