Just thought that I'd update (doesn't seem that I can edit posts)  I don't want people to think I'm bumping my own thread.   Anywhoo... the Modual that Kai suggested does in fact work.  It is able to bypass the WHS security and directly access the WHS public shares.   Which means that it is definately possible to integrate DNN with WHS shares.  I think there is a lot of potential here.

What about configuring the application pool for your DNN site to run as one of your homeserver accounts? instead of network service.

My Home Server is built and I will be installing DNN now using my WHS Services account I setup for the app pool.  This account is also used when adding 3rd party apps as services within WHS.  Thanks for the suggestion Chris.

After the setup I will install a gallery module and blog module and see how it goes.   I also want to look at the default WHS web templates and graphics to see how easy it would be to modify them to match a DNN default skin.
