 Used password=Ak32413!MyeMarketPlaces and still get same error.  The email is valid.

Do any SQL scripts exist that check for corruption in the database that would cause this error?

It does no write any of the table such as Users, Portals, PortalsAlias.

I have other DNN sites & they allow adding of new portals but this one does not & I have to much other custom table to move it elsewhere.

I have looked at the source and found the words at SharedResources.resx Ln 300

  <data name="RegError.Text" xml:space="preserve">

    <value>An Unexpected Error Occurred During Registration. Please Contact The Portal Administrator For Futher Information.</value>

  </data>

but can not trace it back any further.

 If I repeat with the same data I get a different message "A User Already Exists For the Username Specified. Please Register Again Using A Different Username."

But I can not find the table where that user exists.

You indicated 'Are you able to use any sort of guaranteed-unique dummy value here?'  Since the 2nd try has duplicate I thinks that proves the userID was unique on the 1st try & I can verify that it does not exist in the Users table.

Thanks in advance for the help so far.

Hi Lee,

I would next take the portal creation out of the equation -- are you able to create a regular user with the same credentials, without error?

Unfortunately, because the logging of this particular error has been commented out, your remaining recourses are likely limited to attaching a debugger, or compiling a custom provider build with the LogException re-enabled.  You might also consider attaching a profiler to your database server and checking for any weirdness there.

For reference, the problem is occurring on or about line 164 of /Providers/MembershipProviders/AspNetMembershipProvider/AspNetMembershipProvider.vb (and is processed a little further, but not at all saliently in /Library/Components/Users/UserController.vb on or about line 622).  The offending commented LogException call occurs on line 905 of AspNetMembershipProvider.vb.

 I can not register someone with Registration set to Private or Public and get the error "An Unexpected Error Occurred During Registration. PleasContact the Portal Administrator for further information."

I now see the new user that I was trying to add in the aspnet_user, aspnet_Membership  table.  Most of the other aspnet table are blank.

Hi Lee,

I've created a work item on your behalf to correct the issue that is preventing you from figuring out more about the underlying problem.  Details are located at http://support.dotnetnuke.com/issue/ViewIssue.aspx?id=9538&PROJID=2.

In the meantime, are there any relevant exceptions that ARE being logged in your EventLog table?
