Any solution to this problem yet?
Exception from HRESULT: 0x800705B4

I have upgraded 2 websites and receives this general exception in the event log on both of them.

I think we need a solution to this now!

regards

I've been monitoring the event logs for a couple of weeks and still see these errors.  Here is what I've tried:

  • TRUNCATE the scheduler history and event log tables
  • Disable GZip compression
  • Set Scheduler to Request mode under Host Settings
  • Removed calls to "Completed()" in my custom Scheduler Item
  • Increased the HTTP Request Timeout in my web.config
None of the above seem to address the issue with the threading error, although the last item (increasing the request timeout) did help with some issues I started encountering because I set the Scheduler mode to Request and my scheduled item was a long-running process.

We need an official response on this issue from Dotnetnuke - enough people have noticed this problem after upgrading to confirm that this is a new issue.

If you are looking for answers from the developers regarding qualification of bugs in DNN, then the forums are not really the best place to look.

Support.dotnetnuke.com aka GEMINI would be the best place to look.  There are currently a number of issues being tracked regarding the scheduler.
And possibly this issue among others are currently flagged in there.  This does not mean that the cause is as yet resolved.

Has anyone as yet tested this against 5.6.2 beta - which is listed as receiving a patch to close a potential race condition in the scheduler ... that may be contributing to the number of scheduler log issues.

Thanks Westa - I think this started out on the forum to determine if there's any way to configure DNN to work around the issue. We were told to try truncating tables to resolve the issue which I think caused some confusion - as if this were a known problem with a workaround or it was not a bug at all.  Also, many bugs don't become bugs until issues are reported on forums so I think this is the appropriate place to engage the community and DNN experts prior to reporting bugs in Gemini - that said, I'll make a habit of searching Gemini from now on when we're stuck like this in a forum thread.

For the benefit of those monitoring this thread, here is a reported (Unresolved as of this reply) defect that I think may be causing this issue:

(Gemini) Multithreading Problem in DNN Scheduler:

(Forum) Thread Referenced in above issue:
http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/F...

I might try to resolve the threading issue in the core given these guys have done the work to find the code causing the problem.  Might just require a call to SyncLock.

Is there anyway we can up the priority of this issue to the development team?
