Hello,
I am using DNN 5.0.1. I want to setup an intranet application, where the administrator configures the root level of the page hirarchy and the department authors should have permissions to edit the pages starting from level two...

I tried to setup a new group and granted this group edit page permissions on one of the root pages. Unfortunantly this user is now able to create other root level pages, which is not what I want, because this could break the intranet.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Alex

Any user, who is allowed to edit a page, can create child pages (but not siblings).

Hello Sebastian,

this is what I had expected, but in my installation a user who has edit permissions to a page can create other pages even on the root of the tab structure. I am using version 5.0.1. Can you confirm that this behaviour is differnent in your installation (version 5.0.1)? I have two installations where the behaviour is like this? Thanks a lot!

Best regards,

Alex

Hello again,

another issue I just noticed is that a user who has edit permissions on a single page can create a new module on that page and check the option "Display Module On All Pages". After that all pages in the portal are affected, which is not what I had expected? Any suggestions how to overcome this? THanks!

Best regards,
Alex

Alex,

With your test user, do you see the control panel on any pages outside the page where the user has edit permissions?  In other words, if Test1 and Test2 are parent pages and testuser has permissions to edit Test1 but not Test2, does testuser still have the Control Panel on page Test2?
