Ok, is there some documentation on how to setup multiple blogs? or personal blogs? I put 2 instances of the blog on 2 pages, and when I go to module options I don't have anything to select under "personal blog". Do I need to be logged in as a user/owner of that blog? hows does this work? I don't have any money to spend of video training, so any other help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Viktor.

Hi Viktor,

you don't need any video training or paid help: just post in this forum and we'll help you as we can. You don't need multiple instances of the module to have multiple personal blogs, you need multiple instances on different pages only if you want to separate blog posts on different pages and have each blog on its own page. Multiple blogs can coexist in the same instance, and unlimited users can create their own blog and start posting entries on it. Readers will have a list of all the blog entries from all the bloggers, and will be able to filter them by blog, by date, perform searches, etc. (See the dotnetnuke.com blog page for an example of multiple blogs).

If you want to separate each blog into its own page instead, you need multiple instances of the module: one for each page. Then, your user need to create their own blog. Once the blogs are created, they will be shown in the Personal Blog Page dropdown list in the Module Options screen. Then the administrator can choose to assign each blog to the respective page selecting it in the Personal Blog Page dropdown list.

I hope this was clear, if not, feel free to ask me.

Best regards,
Dario Rossa

Sorry Dario,

I have one question about this. How can I set up different instances of the module in diferent pages. When I insert the blog module in a new page it always show me the info of the main blog.

For example, I make a blog for a Football Club, and I want a blog for each tema, Senior, Junior, AMateur, How can I do that?

thanks in advance

Hi Joan,

the module Blog shares its content between all the instances within the same portal. This means that blogs and entries create within an instance will show up also in all other instances in the portal. You can achieve your task using different blogs:

  1. Create an user account for each blog tema you will need. These accounts will be the blog editors' accounts.
  2. Now create a page for each tema you need, such as Senior, Junior, etc.
  3. Place an instance of the module blog in each of the pages.
  4. Give edit permissions to the MainView and to the BlogBlog controls to the corresponding editor.
  5. For each user account/page create the respective blog, such as Senior, Junior, AMateur, etc.
  6. For each instance, select into Module Options the right tema/blog as the Personal Blog Page.

This way, in each page only the corresponding tema entries will be shown. Your editors will have their own tema blog to manage. Let me know if you need further help.

Best regards,
Dario Rossa
