I am a DNN newbie and and am desperately needing some help please. I've been tasked with solving a problem related to a DNN 4.9 installation. All of the portals on this particular installation are working fine until a user attempts to log in. As soon as you click on the "Login" link, you receive a receiving a "A critical error has occurred.
Object reference not set to an instance of an object." error. This occurs for each portal on this installation. Other DNN installations on the same machine work just fine.

Now, from what I understand this is a generic error. I've connected to the database and looked in the table EventLog but it only tells me the same error. No additional information is provided.

Does anyone have the foggiest idea on how to toubleshoot or diagnose this issue? Your help is greatly appreciated.

eventlog shall provide details in XML structure. copy and paste into a .html page to display it in readable form.

Sebastian,

Thanks for your reply, I really appreciate it. The problem is that I cannot login to any of the portals contained in this DNN installation. Any attempt to login results in the above error. I do have access to the database though. Where in the database can I see the event log? In the table EventLog I can see the occurance of this particular error but there is no detailed information associated with it. Is that data stored in another table?

Jim,

data should be stored in database table EventLog, column LogProperties, formattes as XML.
