Hello.

I used the excellent install instructions at this link to install the source version of DNN 4.9.3.

Now i understand why knowledgeable people in these forums recommend against installing the source version of DNN.  I did get the source version up and running by using the above link for help and replacing the install version with the source version.  Once it was up and running, i see there is no content on the default page.

So, if i am interested in using DNN to create my own web site, should i use the install version and modify it to create the web site that i want?

Hello Sebastian.

Actually, i found out i was using the release.config for a web config.  It shows the blank content and when i login in as host SuperUser, it shows the page with the panes titled as TopPane, LeftPane, RightPane, ContentPane, BottomPane without any other content.

If i register and login in as a regular user, it does not show that, it just shows a basically blank page with the logo etc.

If i use the development.config as web.config, i get the following error:

Well, I don't understand it, but i created a new database and new web site using the DotNetNuke_Community_04[1].09.03_Source.zip and the Development.config renamed to web.config and it comes up with the same thing as the DotNetNuke_Community_04[1].09.03_Install.zip showing all of the same content.
