Based on our feedback here and on a post in their forum, Telerik has made a change to its Dotnetnuke radEditor to respect the Dotnetnuke file permissions.

Acording to Telerik, It will be released soon. However, Telerik subscribers can request a preview of the new editor which fully supports Dotnetnuke File permissions by filling out a request ticket on the telerik website and they will be glad to send you a working version.

I have put in my request and will post my initial thoughts when I get a chance to test it.

I don't think you can do that with the existing Telerik editor....

You can't, officially at least.  There's an update from Telerik to correct this, and in the next release it will be built into the controls.

Okay, so I have tested this new provider briefly and can confirn that the Dotnetnuke File Permissions are being used.

Most everything works very nicely. However, I'm having a problem when a user attemps to upload something to a directory that they don't have correct DNN permissions.
It is throwing an exception rather than a more elegant javascript No Permissions to upload file here").
I have a support ticket in and well see what they say about that.

I would like to hear from others who are testing this out.

Sounds very promising....and not bad considering it's a beta.  We are in the process of renewing our subscription with Telerik, so I hope to be testing very soon as well...Once we get I'll post some notes here....
